Wow .... finally a permanently installed Bluegrass Festival in Germany: GrevenGrass! - And we may participate! We are looking forward to the great crowd, the nice atmosphere on the beach of the ems and to enduring sessions with top musicians from the festival program!

Covered GrassSince five years Covered Grass is on the road all over Europe.Their matter: Bluegrass. Seen biographically and musically, the band may be called one of the "younger ones“ in Germany. Jazz, pop, and rock, not bluegrass are the stylistic roots of most band members. This is reflected in the sound of Covered Grass. You may call the band's music "contemporary". You rarely will find Bluegrass standards and classics in their repertoire. Instead, the band feels to be close to the new generation of bluegrass musicians from the United States. They write their own songs, which may be heard on their new CD "disCovered". They even don't hesitate to take over other styles. They breathe in new life to great classics of rock history with their the mandolin, banjo and bass.

This concept works. Due to their modern sound, Covered Grass inspires an audience, to which bluegrass is rather foreign, with this acoustic music. In their homeland, „Bergisches Land“, Covered Grass is one of the most often booked bands, although they play a kind of music, which still draws less attention in Germany. Let yourself be enchanted by perfect vocal harmonies, catchy melodies and the wonderful stories of the texts.

Corina Aurin: vocals.
„… she (mother) says I began to sing long before I could talk…“ This line of text from an ABBA-song, could be form he biography. Because she was singing always and everywhere: musical performances, in school, in the childrens choir, in irish pubs, busking on the road and in front of the cologne cathedral. You could endlessly continue this list. Nowadays singing is the base for her profession. Besides singing jazz, soul, rock and pop on stage and in the studios, Corina is a teacher for singing and music in her own private music school in Denklingen and in a public music school in Gummersbach. Corina just had a rudimentary knowledge of bluegrass, until she joined Covered grass. Now the virus has got her and there's no way to run...

Joon Laukamp: mandoline, fiddle, vocals.
He started to learn classical violin at the age of 7. Thereafter his interests turned more to fiddle styles in folk, rock and jazz. He started playing mandolin in 2007, when he joined this band and for the first time saw a mandolin (it was love at first sight). Presently he is studying jazz violin in the cologne academy of music. Besides with Covered Grass he is playing in several jazz-, rock-, and blues bandprojekts.

Ralph Bonfanti: guitar.
After some time playing loosely in some bands, Ralph had a long autodidactic and experimental time with his electrical guitar, playing everything from ACDC to Frank Zappa. He fell in love with the acoustic guitar and the bluegrass, when he made acquaintance with Covered Grass. Since then, the flatpicking-feaver has cought him, and he's emulating the great guitar players like Lester Flat, Doc Watson und Tony Rice.

Volker Fisher: banjo, vocals, musician, composer and producer.
Volker is running several band-projects, he is on the road with the bands "The Shed Spell" and "Jules" and even in rock and pop groups. His record label Fishdix releases jazz and classic-music productions. However: the 5-string Banjo is his greatest passion.

Carsten Manz: bass, vocals.
Beeing a freelance audio engeneer and producer, Carsten got in touch with a lot of instrumentation and musical styles. He did not know Bluegrass, until he was infected by this virus in Volkers living room. Covered Grass enabled him to widen his limited electrical bass player horizon to the furniture-like instrument, which is known to fill the inside space of any vehicle.
