Greeting from the Mayor and patron of the festival

Bürgermeister Peter Vennemeyer

Peter Vennemeyer

Dear friends of bluegrass music,
The GrevenGrass festival this year goes into it's fourth round. More than a 1000 visitors made their way to the beach on the Ems to enjoy this great event.
Again this year the organisers could contract international bands: the musicians will come from England, Canada, the Netherlands, Czechia, Russia, Sweden and Germany. Visitors are again expected from all over Germany but as well from England, the Netherlands, Austria and Denmark. This shows the european idea coming alive!
As the major of the town of Greven and patron of this event I am pleased, that the town of Greven will be the host of this festival and stay in the center of the european bluegrass scene for two days.
My thanks go to the organizers of the GrevenGrass e.V. for their dedication and intense effort, which make this major event possible.
I wish all musicians a fascinating performance at the GrevenGrass festival. May all visitors enjoy an awesome and unforgettable festival weekend.
Yours
Peter Vennemeyer

Dear friends of the GrevenGrass Festival, PDF Print E-mail
GrevenGrasswith much joy and energy we are back in the middle of the preparations for the 4th GrevenGrass festival.

Although we don't have to reinvent this event every year, there are a lot of (new) things which need to be regulated. An experienced team of helpers will be around and help making this a success. The Bluegrass-Party will start on Whitsun weekend, May 26.
The line-up is completed, you can find information about the bands on our website.

Oh My Darling, the girls from Canada are back on stage at the Emsbeach. After the last years great success the band is happy to play again in Greven, while on their second European Tour. And we gladly will welcome them again!

With the Czech band G-runs' n Roses we were finally able to fulfil our desire to get Ralph and his superb musicians to Greven.

The New Essex Bluegrass Band has been on our 'request-list' as early as 2010. Well, now it worked out and they will be here at Whitsun weekend.

They have been GrevenGrass musicians in the first hours: Lazy Tater. The Greven audience loves our friends from Holland, they will play again in Greven. The band is looking forward to see all their fans again.

The Grass Pistols from Russia are coming a long way. Being invited to perform their music in Greven motivated them to take up the rigors of a long drive West. Welcome!

Covered Grass,  a great newcomer band from Germany joins in seamlessly into the ranks of the musicians of the 4th GrevenGrass festivals. A refreshing sound and a bit of crossover. Enjoy!

They are right at home in Greven, the Looping Brothers. As an „old“ custom they will open the festival. GrevenGrass-PlakatTheir representation of traditional Bluegrass Music is authentic and their local connections make them familiar with GrevenGrass. They will invite the audience to a great musical weekend.

And once again, “Mr. GrevenGrass“, Ronnie Snippe, will be the master of ceremonies for  the program. He will present the festival with great competence and musical entertainment. Thus, even the pauses will be an experience.

Last but not least:
GrevenGrass, a successful European Bluegrass Festival, also is a platform for promising newcoming bands. This year we will present Emmy & The Bluegrass Pals from the Netherlands.

As in 2010, we offer a musical matinee on Sunday. The Swedish rockabilly band Terry O'Connel & His Pilots had been at our festival last year as 'incognito' viewers. They found the atmosphere to be really great and asked us, if they could play here. We think we found the right answer for their request: Rockabilly for breakfast, watch out!
